March is a Lucky Month at Joe Squared (plus this week’s specials)

This Week’s Special: Chickpea, Roasted Red Pepper and Roasted Garlic Potato Skins

March is a lucky month for Joe Squared, and we’re not just talking St. Paddy’s Day.  On March 5th, we’re having a premiere party for our segment on Diners, Drive-In’s and Dives.  The show starts at 10 p.m. so please come on down to Station North and celebrate with us.  If you can’t make it that night,  on Friday we are having a Celebrate Joe Squared Party at Power Plant Live!  We’ll see the show again on the huge screen plus lots of music and some fun give-aways.   The segment, by the way, is called “Out of the Box.” Guess that says it all.

March also brings a new menu to Joe Squared — a menu YOU designed.  We’re adding 13 new items to the menu — soup, wings, potato skins, risottos and wings. We got more than 400 responses to our Write Our Menu Survey. We’re still tabulating who had the highest number of most popular responses and won gift cards.  But we do know what will be added permanently to the menu according to our voters:
  1. French Onion Soup
  2. Sesame Garlic Wings
  3. Spinach Ricotta Potato Skins
  4. Sweet Potato and Sage Risotto
  5. Tomato, Mozzarella and Basil Risotto
  6. Crab and Avocado Risotto
  7. Crab and Artichoke Risotto
  8. Roasted Eggplant Risotto
  9. Coalhouse Pizza
  10. Roasted Red Pepper and Artichoke Pizza
  11. Chicken and Balsamic Pizza
  12. Chicken and Avocado Pizza
  13. Cumin Braised Lamb Pizza
This Week’s Special: Caramelized Onion and Jalapeno Chicken Wings

But if you don’t want to wait until March,  come on down and enjoy our specials this week:

  • Bacon and Apple Stew
  • Caramelized Onion and Jalapeno Chicken Wings
  • Chickpea, Roasted Red Pepper and Roasted Garlic Potato Skins
  • Prosciutto, Clam and Onion Pizza
  • Squid Ink, Arugula, Capicola and Shrimp Risotto

This week’s music spotlight; Special acoustic dinner set by “Sujay Pathak” 7pm Friday

I’ve had the pleasure of booking and knowing Sujay Pathak for about 4 years now and in addition to him being an amazing musician, he is a great person! Sujay is also a medical doctor (I think, ha) and because of this he wasn’t able to do his regular 1st and 3rd Saturday gigs at our venue for the past year or so.  But his schedule has cleared up for this one time performance and everyone is excited at Joe Squared.  So please come out and enjoy the soulful acoustic sounds of Sujay Pathak. As always it’s free  I heard one story that he had a full wireless setup and would go to each table and play a personalized verse for each table he came up to… what a great guy! Listen to his sounds here.

Warm your body. Relax your mind.

We love food that does more than just stimulate your taste buds and fill your stomach.  Our  Yuzu and Wasabi Glazed Chicken Wings is a great example. The tart yuzu from Eastern Asia is used in Japanese and Korean cuisine and is used in winter to ward against colds, warm the body and even relax the mind. The relax the mind part is probably neutralized by the wasabi. Currently researchers a looking at wasabi vapor as a means of waking up people during emergencies.

Other specials this week include:

Write Our Menu and Win!

Mashed Potato Pizza or Cajun Pizza? Chocolate and Pork Belly Risotto or Oyster Rockefeller Risotto? Coconut Curry Hot Wings or Blueberry Rum Wings?  Now you can add your favorite items to our menu.  Chef Joe  has taken popular specials from the last several years and created an on-line survey. Voters select their top five choices in five categories: pizzas, risottos, wings, soups and potato skins. The selections that receive the most votes will be put on the menu.

And here’s an even bigger reason to participate. We will award more than $1000 in Joe Squared gift cards to winners of the contest as well as a $5 coupon to anyone who votes.  A $500 gift card will be given to the person who selects the most items that people voted to be added to the menu. Second prize is a $300 gift card; third prize is a $200 gift card; fourth prize is a $100 gift card; and fifth prize is a $50 gift card.

Oh the subtleties of a Joe Squared specials menu…GO RAVENS!

Our North Avenue patrons are a sophisticated bunch so we don’t want to be crass in rooting for the Ravens this weekend by putting Ravens Pizza and purple beer on the menu. Instead, we have created unique specials here and at Power Plant Live!

DISCLAIMER: Chef Joe wants our customers to know that this bizarre connection of our specials to the Ravens has nothing to do with him. It is all the ravings of Momma Joe, who has changed her allegiance from the Bills to the Ravens for obvious reasons.

Eat some Lamb and Mushroom Stew and make a statement that the Patriots have no bite. Yep,  the official difference between lamb and sheep is that a lamb does not have any permanent incisor teeth.

Help the Ravens move into the immortality of a Super Bowl win with Spicy Corn and Honey Wings. In Hinduism, honey  is one of the five elixirs of immortality. Plus of course, there is the Baltimore HON thing going on.

Eat your veggies just like your mother said so you will grow up big and strong. Our Veggie Potato Skins are a tribute to our strong Ravens with a bunch of garlic to ward off the evil Patriots.

Indulge in a classic Sausage, Pepper and Onion Pizza with marinara, green peppers, Vidalia onions, mild sausage, fresh mozzarella, asiago, parmigiano, romano and oregano. Sausage is one of the oldest prepared foods because it is essentially efficient butchery.  So here’s hoping for some efficient butchery of the Patriots in Sunday’s big game

Show your distain for the Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady by chowing down on White Bean and Lemon Risotto.  We all know that lemons are defined as “an object of dubious value; a piece of crap.” Brady’s 55.9 completion percentage against the Ravens in five career games is his lowest against any NFLteam. So we hope this is one of those game where Brady=Lemon.
